Karen St Clair

Karen is a native of Oklahoma and her earliest memories include drawing and painting. Her interest ignited in Jr. High school when she began selling her paintings. In high school she entered a national portfolio competition based in New York with eight of her pieces and won a full art scholarship to the University of Tulsa. With a BFA in Graphic Design and Advertising she worked as a fashion illustrator and art director for various Tulsa companies. She was awarded an Addy for her design work on Profiles in American Art, a series on PBS.

Karen out her career on hold for many years to raise her family. She kept in touch with her art by becoming an art teacher at the local high school for 17 years. She has had the good fortune to have traveled all over Italy, France and the UK with cameras always in hand. This explains an occasional Venetian canal or Paris street scene among her Oklahoma vistas.

Now she has decided to pursue her art full time joining numerous art organizations, entering shows and competitions. Painting and drawing are an essential part of her daily routine. Situated in the middle of the beautiful Tall Grass Prairie she is never at a loss for subject matter.
